It is Spring
and the colorful spring flowers such as the happy yellow daffodils, are
everywhere to be seen. They are heralding in warmer weather and hopefully a
less restricted summer than last year. What a difference a year makes!
The arrival
of Spring is a reminder from nature that everything is in the process of
changing. The end of one season leads us into the start of another with all its
joys and delights. Everything is in a constant process of becoming and so are
we.
If you have
read my book, you will know that I am passionate about the need for us as older
women to take care of ourselves, physically as well as emotionally. Caring for
ourselves include a well curated wardrobe.
You will know
from my writings that I am a firm believer that clothing is an extension of who
we are. Clothes are therefore so much more than merely covering our bodies. How
and what we choose to wear is a great source of personal expression and a
powerful tool in non-verbal communication.
Spring is the
perfect time to stop and take stock of our clothes and how it resonates with
what we want to communicate to the world outside and having the right garments
to do so. Therefore, the question is whether it is a wardrobe fit for purpose?
Auditing our
wardrobes at the start of Spring is therefore a great opportunity to reflect on
who we are, the message we want to communicate through our clothes and whether
the garments in our wardrobes enhance and contribute to the overall story we
want to share.
Color is the
start of any wardrobe as it has a powerful psychological impact on how we feel
about ourselves and the messages we communicate to others. It is also the first
step in designing a wardrobe that includes only items that enhance and amplify
our good points.
My invitation
to you therefore is to consider the changes you may want to bring about at the
start of Spring. As the saying goes, there is no time like the present!
